The Popularity of Screen Printing

Screen printing is now a popular way for companies to print images on company shirts as one form of advertisement.

Tee’s Plus is a company that handles screen printing for companies as well as individuals.  Designing your own logo is a popular option that they offer with an array of different types of shirts to choose from.

Do you know the history of screen printing?

The screen printing process is a printing technique that uses a woven mesh to support an ink-blocking stencil. The stencil forms open areas of mesh that transfer ink as a sharp image onto a material. A roller is moved across the screen stencil,  pumping ink onto the threads of the woven mesh in the open areas.

Samuel Simon was the first to patent screen printing in 1907, he lived in England.  Screen printing was originally used for printing expensive wall paper onto fine fabrics.

American inventor Michael Vasilantone developed a rotary multicolour garment screen printing machine in 1960.  The original garment rotary machine was made to print logos and team information onto bowling garments, this soon led into the new fad of printing on t-shirts.  The boom in printed t-shirts made the rotary garment screen printing machine the most popular in the screen printing industry.  The art of screen printing on garments currently account for over half of the screen printing in the United States.

Why are garment prices going up?

Cotton prices going upWithin the last few weeks you may have noticed the clothing prices going up. You say why? In this economy where many companies are trying to lower costs to drive new and continuing business, why? Apparently the price of cotton is going up. It’s been on a steady incline for several months and now clothing manufactures are feeling the pinch, thus they are raising their prices which trickle down to everyone. Some economists predict that prices will continue to rise for many years. So as you look to purchase that new shirt or pricing out company polo’s, keep in mind, while most companies are trying to do what they can to keep prices low, the prices we pay all start from a source and it can snowball from there.

New England Patriots choose Tees Plus

New England Patriots choose Tees Plus to make their sweatshirts

New England Patriots choose Tees Plus

Back in 2004, the New England Patriots faced off a mighty rival, the Carolina Panthers.  In a very close game, the Patriots defeated the panthers and we had another very long night ahead of us.  We were chosen to produce the official New England Patriots Champion Sweatshirts.  With a full production crew at the ready waiting for the final seconds to count down, we watched in amazement the ending of that game.  By the next morning we had a full truck load of sweatshirts ready to go out the door.  Again another satisfied customer, and many fans kept warm in their champion sweatshirts.

New York Giants choose Tees Plus

Still going through our archives, we found some nice images from Superbowl XLII.  On February 3rd 2008, the Giants defeated the Patriots 17 to 14.  During that game, we had our caffinated crew at the ready.  When the final seconds counted down we were already in production.  Our screen printers worked all night and into the morning to push out the official New York Giants Tee Shirt for Superbowl XLII.
